June 22, HBIS Group Chairman Yu Yong had a video meeting with VALE CEO Eduardo Bartolomeo in HBIS headquarter to explore future new fields of cooperation in their efforts in global carbon reduction. HBIS Vice President Liu Jian, VALE Black Metal Executive Vice Presidet Marcello Spinelli also attended the meeting.
Yu Yong said Carbon reduction had become a global issue and it did matter with steel mills and mines. We should have the responsibility to pay attention to and practice. Already, first in the industry, HBIS has announced its Low Carbon & Green Development plan and already, launched the world’s first hydrogen direct reduction pilot plant. With its partner University of Science & Technology Beijing, HBIS has established the World Steel Development Research Institute to develop new low carbon technologies and procedures. VALE is also exploring in its own operations in carbon reduction. As world’s renowned steel manufacturer and mining giant, HBIS and VALE should contribute their efforts with their Green Steel and Green Ore, together contribute to reducing the global carbon footprint. Extend of trading partners, our cooperation could be more diversified, more technical with client & supply chain cooperation, and actively explore new paths and push bilateral cooperation to a new height.
Eduardo Bartolomeo said to an enterprise, climate shift was not always about challenges, it also represented opportunities. VALE has been dedicated to carbon reduction and finding partners and clients to make to their green goals. VALE will improve their energy efficiency and design new procedures, new technologies and their applications. HBIS low carbon experiences are very attractive and VALE will learn from it. In pandemic circumstances, VALE has implemented strategic adjustments and made innovative explorations in global marketing and in future, VALE is looking forward to working with closer with HBIS and find new fields of cooperation in green development, to promote both side mutual benefit and common progress.
